Top 10 Albums of the Decade 2000's

Before I get into this lets be clear that this is my sole opinion as a fan (not a round table claiming to be experts), I based this on the albums that rang out to me when thinking back on the last 10 years. Keep in mind that no one has heard every single album that came out over the last 10 years, and where you are from plays a big part in your exposure and taste.

10. Lox- We Are The Street. This album was the last album the threesome put out. Released at the top of 2000 I dare you pop this in today and say it aint still the shit.

9. State Property- Chaingang Vol 2. In my opinion the best group album since Wu Tang Forever. Had Beans not been locked up when it dropped they could have promoted this album better. If you haven't had a chance to listen to this one yet, do your self a favor and look this one up.
8. Lil Wayne-The Carter 3. One of the most highly anticipated albums ever and it lived up to expectations.
7. Nas- Stillmatic. One of Nas's most impactful albums spawned by a fire lit up under his ass by Jay-Z.
6. Beanie Sigel- The Truth. My personal favorite album from my favorite rapper(Yeah I said it. So what its my blog). Front to back pure hard hitting lyrics with the beats to match. Beans is hands down one of the deepest MC's EVER.
5. ScarFace- The Fix. No doubt one of Face's best albums. The creativity on this one is unmatched.
4. Kanye West- Graduation. Kanye is no doubt one of the most impactful MC's of the last 10 years and this was his best work.
3. Jay-Z - The Blue Print. You Drop an album on the same day that a national emergency occurs (9/11) and you still go gold that day? Not to mention you cause Nas to step his pen game up. Nuff said.
2. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP. Stan, I Am .. need I say more? Not to mention this shit went Diamond.
1. 50 Cent Get Rich or Die Tryin. Not that I'm saying 50's better than the aforementioned MC's on this list cause I don't think so. But this was one of the most highly anticipated albums of the decade with a movement unlike we have ever seen before and the album was hot. 7 years later and I would still listen to this. and it is the highest selling album on the list.
Honorable Mention.

OutKast- Speaker Box/ The Love Below

T.I. -King

Ludacris- Red Light District

Diplomats- Diplomatic Immunity Vol 1

Scott Storch working On Shyne Album

Scott Storch sat down with AllHipHop.com and talked about a number of things including working with Shyne.

AllHipHop.com: Well, what are you working on these days?

Scott Storch: A bunch of stuff. I just got done with the Usher song, "In My Bag." And, uh Chris Brown and Gucci Mane with Soulja Boy, that "Bingo" record. Jennifer Hudson. You know, working on various projects with up and coming acts, different stuff. Actually, [I'm] about to start working with Shyne on his project. He's over in Belize.

AllHipHop.com: Oh, wow...

Scott Storch: Yeah, Shyne's my man. I've been talking to him and I was talking to him all through his prison sentence. He's always remained a loyal person to me. I am headed to L.A. to work with Dr. Dre on his next album.

AllHipHop.com: Did you work with Shyne before?

Scott Storch: No, we became friends after he was already in [jail] and I found out he was a fan and he's just a hell of a cool guy. He was real close with my friend Steven. And, Steve is on his management team now. And he put us in contact and it became a healthy relationship. I'm looking forward to doing, not just one record, but doing a chunk on his album.

AllHipHop.com: I don't know why I assumed he wouldn't be rapping anymore. I guess that's stupid of me.

Scott Storch: He's in full effect. He's got people sending him tracks. I have a feeling he's going to make a really huge album...He's got a lot to say.

Memphis Bleek Speaks In His Relationship With Jay-Z

Bleek on not taking pay for Rocawear photo shoot:
"Like, let me tell you something that just happened recently, right, you know they just did the tenth anniversary photo shoot for Rocawear?," Bleek asked in an interview. "So they called me to come down there and do the picture or whatever. The Rocawear people tried to pay me, like they had a check for me at the photo shoot. And I'm like, 'Nah, I can't take that check.' I think the check was like for between I think like $7,000 to $10,000. And I'm like, 'I can't take that check.' And the dude he like, 'Yo, why not?' I'm like,'"Nah 'cause this my homie's company. Why my man gotta pay me just to take some pictures? Like, this my n*gga! We from the [same] projects. You don't have to pay me. [Doing] this is nothing.' So then Jay called me the next day like, 'Yo Bleek, why you ain't take the money?' I'm like, 'Yo Hov, that's like me stealing from you, just taking money from you, c'mon. What I did for you yesterday took 15 minutes out my day, you don't have to pay me for that. I'ma get the money some other way.' And that n*gga said to me, 'Yo that's why I love you, you one of the realest n*ggas ever, you would never meet nobody else in the world who would do that.' And I sat back and thought about it, [and] he's right. Who turning down money today? It's just like, that's my homie. That's like if my brother, he like, yo I'm throwing a party, come to my party, and I gotta charge him for a walk-thru. Is you crazy?! C'mon. Karma is everything. You don't have to pay me for no picture, I'm cool. And that's just the loyalty I have to my team. And anybody that ever been close to me, you never gon' meet nobody that tell you yo Bleek is foul, Bleek is this -- I'm always for my team first." (Hip Hop DX)

Bleek on not joining Roc Nation:

"I coulda went to Roc Nation, but then what am I getting out of that?," Bleek asked in an interview. "Another $150,000 check advance, then I come out [and] sell 300,000 probably, somebody makes two or three million, and I gotta mess with the fact that they gon' say yo you bricked out? Like that's the industry. And that's [with a label run by] my homie. Now if [it's] somebody else, [they] might not even get a 150 [thousand dollar] advance, they probably go get 30. And plus I'd rather be on my own, fam. I been in the game, like you said a decade now, I know what to do; I know what not to do. It's time for me to have my own record [label]. I got a lot of n*ggas behind me that's ready to get they shot. And me being behind Jay, they ain't gonna never get they shot." (Hip Hop DX)

Boondocks Season 3 To Air in 2010

After a nearly three-year hiatus, the popular animated series "The Boondocks" is set to return to TV in the New Year, its creator Aaron McGruder said.

According to Vibe.com, the cartoonist took to his Twitter page on Christmas Day, revealing news that a third season of the series will air in early 2010.

"Finally got an airdate for Season 3," McGruder wrote (@AaronMcGruder). "Not sure if I'm allowed to put it out yet, so I'll just say you got about three months! Merry Xmas!!"

The popular-yet-controversial comic strip-turned-cartoon debuted in 2005 on the Cartoon Network and ran for two seasons before its lengthy hiatus.

The show received criticism for its heavy use of the word "n****", but McGruder defended its use arguing that the "large-scale usage of the word provides the show with a level of realism," says Wikipedia.

During the second season of "The Boondocks", two episodes were banned without any official word from the network.

According to reports, the banned episodes were heavily critical of BET. A source told HipHopDX at the time that BET had been pressured Sony (the studio behind The Boondocks) to ban the episodes and threatened legal action. Cartoon Network publicly stated that "...neither Turner nor Adult Swim were contacted by BET." Two episodes were eventually included in the Season 2 DVD release.

Lyor Cohen Interview With Source Mag

Manny Pacquiao Refuses To Submit To Olympic Style Drug Testing

Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants Manny Pacquiao to submit to Olympic-style drug tests, including a blood test within days of their tentatively scheduled March 13 bout, and failing to agree to these terms could threaten the fight, Mayweather's camp said Tuesday.

Pacquiao has expressed reluctance to submit to a blood test within 30 days of the proposed world welterweight title fight, which will be staged at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

"As management for Floyd, we're insisting this Olympic-style, random [blood] testing take place to assure it's a level field before the biggest fight in history," Mayweather's advisor Leonard Ellerbe said. "We're definitely at an impasse."

Mayweather's promoter Richard Schaefer said a Pacquiao promoter told him the Filipino superstar would not agree to a blood test within 30 days of the bout because of his superstition against testing.

Pacquiao and Mayweather have previously submitted, and passed, urine tests for performance-enhancing and illegal drugs supervised by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Travis Tygart, chief executive of the United States Anti-Doping Agency, said a blood test can allow testers to detect use of energy-boosting synthetic EPO, human growth hormone and "a number of potent performance enhancers not detectable in urine. . . . With a [30-day] window like that, you could dope to the gills and get away with it."

Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, said Mayweather's push for blood testing is a ploy to avoid fighting Pacquiao, who has won back-to-back fighter of the year awards and has battered world champions Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.

"I knew Floyd wanted a way out of the fight," Roach said.

Roach said his concern about the timing of a blood test has nothing to do with hiding anything. "It's 100% mental. If it's in your head that [a blood test] weakens you, then it will weaken you," he said.

Roach suggested a compromise, saying he would allow Pacquiao to give a blood sample one week before the fight, but no closer than three days before the bout.

"One would assume that he'd find it acceptable to be subject to the same testing that Lance Armstrong, Kobe Bryant and Floyd Mayweather agree to," Mayweather's promoter Schaefer said.

In another development, Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, said Schaefer's Golden Boy Promotions has applied for a permit to stage the fight at MGM Grand..

Several venues, including Staples Center and Dallas Cowboys Stadium, expressed interest in staging the Pacquiao-Mayweather bout with guarantees of $20 million and up. But MGM Grand, with tickets ranging from $500 to $2,500 and other related Las Vegas properties offering closed-circuit seats, can apparently offer more than $30 million.

BREAKING NEWS: T.I. Released From Prison

Sources from Atlantic Records have exclusively confirmed with BET.com that T.I. has been released from prison. The news comes to a surprise to the entire industry as T.I. was slated to serve at least three more months at the Arkansas Forrest City prison.

The source from Atlantic Records confirmed with BET News’ Sharon Carpenter that the rapper was abruptly released from the facility and is currently in route to Atlanta to serve the rest of his time in a half way house.

Steve Sadow confirmed with XXLMag.com earlier this month that TIP might see an early release but it would be decided by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to rule the fate of the decision.

“Now it is up to the [Federal] Bureau of Prisons to decide whether someone should be placed in a halfway house prior to the projected release date,” Sadow told XXL. “The Bureau of Prisons can do that and typically does it either a month before, or two months before… as much as six months before the projected release date.”

Details on T.I.’s release are extremely sketchy at this moment, but check back with BET.com for more details on this story.

Lil Wayne Detained By Texas Border Patrol For Marijuana Posession!

Lil' Wayne is currently being detained at an interior border checkpoint in Texas, this according to a Border Patrol supervisor. The Border Patrol is not releasing details about the incident -- but we're told Wayne has not been arrested. We're told officials are still investigating. Officials tell us 11 other members of Wayne's entourage are also being detained. The incident went down in the city of Falfurrias -- roughly 100 miles from the Mexican border. Officials tell us a drug-sniffing K-9 unit picked up the scent outside the bus. Wayne and 11 members of his entourage are being detained at an internal B.P. checkpoint in southern Texas. We're told Lil' Wayne's concert tonight at the Laredo Entertainment Center in Laredo, TX. has been postponed. Jermaine Dupri Explains Reason For Not Visiting Da Brat

So So Def CEO Jermaine Dupri has responded to critics who claim that he is not supporting incarcerated rapper Da Brat.

Da Brat became involved in an altercation with an aspiring model/Atlanta Falcons cheerleader named Shayla Stevens, who was working as a waitress at a night club Dupri owned outside of Atlanta.

In the ensuing altercation, Da Brat struck Stevens with a bottle of rum, causing multiple lacerations on her face which required stitches and left scars.

Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2008 for her role in the assault.

According to Dupree he is in regular contact with Da Brat, who is serving her time at Arrendale Federal Prison in Alto Georgia.

“I spoke to her via letters back and forth and she’s good. She’s ready to come home and do what she gotta do,” Jermaine Dupri told V-103's Ryan Cameron this morning. “We are basically on the move to try and get her out.”

While he has corresponded with Da Brat via letters, he admitted that he hasn’t been to physically see her at Arrendale.

“Those people, they don’t really know me like that to say nothing about what I’m doing with my personal situation with Da Brat When Brat come home, I am going to be the person that take care of her and make sure she gets back on her feet and do what she gotta…that’s just like everybody talking about Tiger Woods. We know nothing about the situation and everybody should shut up.”

Dupri admitted that he hasn’t been to see Da Brat since her incarceration. He told Da Brat his reasoning in several of the letters he has written to her.

“I felt a certain way about seeing Brat in jail. That’s my little sister and I don’t really want to deal with that situation like that. I would prefer dealing with getting her out and seeing that day as opposed to going to see her…only reason I am saying this on the air is because I explained this to Brat. In my letter, I let her know the same thing."

Da Brat has remained productive throughout her incarceration.

Both Dupri and Da Brat are the subjects of a multimillion-dollar civil lawsuit filed by Stevens.

Gucci Mane Reveals Collabo With Young Jeezy

"I learned in the rap game, once you got heat people wanna stand next to you," Gucci revealed in an interview with radio personality Big Boy. "Once I established myself as being a credible artist as someone who could make some money -- then in that time, the people wanna bring something to the table...Before the conversation we had collaborated, we had been talking. And we kinda had a mutual agreement together. Both of us are so big and got so many people that wanna party with us, it's kinda selfish to say we travel around the world -- I knew me personally, I didn't want that on my hands...We already collaborated on two songs, one is already out and one is debuting in a few weeks." Chris Brown's Sales Taking a Beating

A survey and store visits find that Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Trans World, Newbury Comics are all carrying the Brown record and sources say that his album received widespread distribution and promotion by his label, Jive Records, and his distributor, Sony Music Entertainment. Jive shipped over 400,000 units of "Graffiti," and also had it positioned in prime stores space at all key accounts, according to sources. In fact, sources suggest that Jive may have overshipped his record, as sales are slow. "Not only am I carrying it, I am over carrying it, because it isn't selling," says the head of purchasing at one large chain. "I wish I could return it." He says the album's first week sales only reached 40% of expectations. At 27-unit Newbury Comics, Carl Mello head of purchasing, echoes that sentiment. "We have it; it's not selling much."
