So The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) recorded 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct album as selling over 500,000 records and awarded him a gold plaque. However Nielsen SoundScan only recorded 50 selling 375 based on barcode scanned sales. The RIAA's system includes album shipments. The debate is which tracking system is more accurate. Either does it really matter? 50 is still caked up beyond imagination, and can still draw a pretty big crown no matter where he goes.... Mr. C-Money$$$$

New Jersey MC, Apache Found Dead

New Jersey  rapper, Apache, was found dead earlier today. There are no details on his death other than it was from a undisclosed illness. Apache, real name Anthony Teaks, was a popular 90's rapper. He made his first appearance on '45 King Presents: The Flavor Unit.' In 1992, his song 'Gangsta Bitch' was a big hit reaching No. 11 on the Billboard Charts.


"Without Apache there would have been no Queen Latifah, no Naughty By Nature, no Chill Rob G., no anything" said Shakim Compere, co-founder of Flavor Unit Records. "Apache was the string that tied all of Flavor Unit together. Without Apache none of this would be."

Rick Ross Hosts Blood Drive To Aid Haiti

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Rick Ross is getting involved with the relief efforts today TV by hosting a blood drive tomorrow January 18.
The rapper's Rick Ross Charities will team with The Community Blood Centers and 24 Hour Fitness to collect blood to order to send to the victims of the massive earthquake, which leveled the capital city of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday.
According to the latest estimates, the death toll from the 7.0 earthquake will top 100,000 people, while millions of injured and wounded are in desperate need of medical attention and other vital supplies.
Ross is hosting the event on Monday, the same date the U.S. honors the birth of civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“We have to come together to assist Haiti in anyway possible," Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. "Give blood, donate what you can and remember the relief efforts for Haiti need to be long term."
Ross will appear at the blood drive, which takes place from 5:30pm - 10:30pm at 24 Hour Fitness, located at 8385 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines. Ross’ charity work in Haiti started before the earthquake ravaged the country.
The rapper performed during the Starfest Multi-Cultural Music Festival, which drew an estimated 500,000 fans in December of 2009.

A number of influential hip-hop artists will join New York Governor David Patterson today (January 15), to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.

Rap mogul Russell Simmons, Hip-Hop pioneer Eric B. of Eric B. and Rakim, Salt of female of rap’s most successful girl group Salt-N-Pepa and the real Avon Barksdale will appear in Queens with activist Erica Ford and Gov. Patterson to launch "Peace Week."

The Governor and the celebrity rappers will use their influence to call for peace and unity in the streets and amongst the youth.

"We lost to many to senseless violence. Martin Luther King called for non-violence and peace," Life Camp/Peace Week Founder Erica Ford told AllHipHop.com. “[It’s] time to 'Bury Da Beefs' and live at least a week of it in his [MLK's] memory."

“Peace Week” launches today (January 15) and ends January 22 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, a civil rights activist who encouraged non-violent protest as a means to bring forth social change.

Various events will take place in different boroughs throughout the week, including a celebration for MLK at Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network and a "Teen Peace Party" in Jamaica, Queens.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday is being celebrated across the world today (January 15).

Lloyd Banks Detained By Canadian Immigration

Lloyd Banks, the G-Unit rapper facing assault charges in Canada, was reportedly released from police custody and is now being detained by immigration.
According to reports, Banks and associate Nicklas Sloane are being detained.

According to Olaf Heinzel, a spokesperson for the Kitchener (Ontario) Police, the two were held for unspecified immigration issues; a Canadian immigration spokesperson told MTV News that details about Banks' (real name: Christopher Lloyd) and Sloan's detention were not available at press time. A review is scheduled for later this week, after which the two could be released and allowed to return to the U.S.

The rapper's attorney, Patrick Ducharme, spoke on Banks' condition earlier this week.

"There has been an agreement between the prosecution and defense for his release and the release for each of the individuals," Patrick Ducharme, Banks' legal counsel in Canada, said in an interview. "I expect for him to be released [Tuesday] morning. It's just a question of posting some bail...the case probably will proceed on the basis that it will be put over for three to four weeks for me to receive what is called the 'prosecutors disclosure.' That's all the information that supposedly supports the charges. Then three to four weeks after I've had the chance to review that disclosure, I would be prepared to set the date for the trial or preliminary hearing, depending on some procedural matters. The case will proceed through the courts. If it stays in the lower courts, it takes about a year and a few months to resolve. If it goes to the higher courts, it could be as along as a year and a half to bring the matter to court." (MTV)
 
 Lloyd Bankswas arrested along with four other men in Ontario Canada on January 9th. Banks, real name Christopher Charles Lloyd, and four others allegedly sequestered road manager and "Canadian booking artist" Chris Hines of Chris Hines/ Ultimate Ent in a hotel near Kitchener (Ontario, Canada) where Banks was scheduled to perform. According to accounts of the alleged incident, they assaulted Hines and left him to be rushed to hospital. Hines suffered a few minor lacerations as well as a bruised eye and a possible head trauma.
